RISE (Reno Initiative for Shelter & Equality) is an extraordinary organization dedicated to serving the most vulnerable members of our community through compassionate, comprehensive support services. Operating multiple programs throughout the Reno-Sparks area, RISE provides emergency shelter, supportive housing, and community outreach to women, families, seniors, and children experiencing homelessness or crisis situations. Their trauma-informed, person-first, and housing-first approach prioritizes dignity, safety, and individualized support for every person they serve.
RISE operates three major programs that address critical community needs. Our Place is a low-barrier emergency shelter on a 20-acre campus in Sparks, providing shelter for up to 138 women, 38 families, and 20 senior women with pet-friendly accommodations and wraparound services. Women and Children’s Crossroads offers structured supportive housing for mothers with children recovering from substance abuse, mental health challenges, or homelessness, with intensive case management and counseling. Their Community Outreach program takes essential supplies, resources, and compassion directly to the streets through mobile units, meeting individuals where they are. Beyond these core programs, RISE continuously develops new initiatives to address evolving community needs, demonstrating their commitment to being a responsive, growing force for positive change in Northern Nevada.
