USS Turner Joy Reunion Group

When we first met with the USS Turner Joy DD-951 Reunion Group, we knew immediately we wanted to be involved with this meaningful project. The work involved creating a website to manage their organization and tell the powerful stories that are so vital to preserving the history of our country and honoring those who served.

The Reunion Group had a website they were currently using, but an updated design and enhanced functionality were necessary to give their organization the professional platform they needed to effectively manage their operations. Beyond building a new website, it was equally important that we preserve all the content, images, video, and historical records they had already incorporated into their existing site. This wasn’t just data migration, this was preserving irreplaceable pieces of history.

This project stands as one of the most meaningful we’ve ever had the privilege to work on. From the beginning, we had the honor of reviewing hundreds of historical images, videos, and ship stories to help migrate that content to the new site. Learning about this chapter of American history while hearing and reading the firsthand accounts from the sailors who lived it was an experience we’ll never forget.

The new website creates a powerful experience for visitors from the moment they arrive. An incredible drone video footage of the USS Turner Joy immediately immerses visitors in what it meant to be part of this warship’s history. Scrolling through the site reveals extensive galleries of documented photos showing the crew at sea, maintaining the ship, and the countless other moments that tell the complete story of life aboard the Turner Joy.

Given the volume of historical content that needed organized management and display, WordPress was the natural choice. We developed numerous custom modules allowing the USS Turner Joy Reunion Group to seamlessly manage and update every aspect of their content. We built specialized systems for ship stories, newsletters, Reunion Group articles, comprehensive photo galleries, and even a directory system to help manage and display information about all the shipmates who served aboard the USS Turner Joy. We also created functionality for posting and displaying required tax documents, ensuring their organization stays in compliance with IRS requirements.

Working with the USS Turner Joy Reunion Group has been a tremendous honor. We’re proud not only to have been part of preserving this important piece of military history but also to continue supporting their organization as they move forward. Staying in touch with these veterans and helping maintain their digital presence is a privilege we don’t take lightly.
