What is OpenLiteSpeed?
OpenLiteSpeed, in plain English.
OpenLiteSpeed is a web server: the program on a hosting machine that receives a visitor's request and sends back your page. Every website needs one. The best known are Apache and Nginx, and OpenLiteSpeed is a speed-minded alternative.
It is the free, open source edition of LiteSpeed's server, made by LiteSpeed Technologies. It includes a built-in page cache and works with Apache rewrite rules, which lets many existing sites move across easily. It also has a web-based admin screen.
For a business, the web server shapes how quickly pages appear and how many visitors a site handles at once. Because OpenLiteSpeed is free, the speed comes without a license fee. It runs in the background, so visitors never notice it, only the result.

Why we use OpenLiteSpeed.
Our own site runs on OpenLiteSpeed, on a Hetzner server managed with ServerAvatar. We like it for WordPress because its built-in caching keeps pages quick without extra weight. We choose it when speed and a clean setup matter.
Quick Page Delivery
Built-in caching serves WordPress pages fast, even under load.
No License Fee
The software is free and open source, so costs stay on the server.
Easy to Switch To
It reads Apache rewrite rules, so existing sites move across smoothly.
