What is JavaScript?
JavaScript, in plain English.
JavaScript is the programming language that brings a web page to life. When a menu slides open, a form tells you an email address looks wrong, or a list of results filters as you type, JavaScript is doing that work in your browser.
It was created at Netscape in 1995 and is now standardized by Ecma International, which is why it behaves the same in every major browser. It is free to use. It can also run on servers, so one language can power both what visitors see and what happens behind the scenes.
For a business site, JavaScript is what separates a static brochure from something people can use: booking widgets, property searches, live updates, interactive maps. Used with restraint, it keeps pages fast. Used carelessly, it slows them down, which is why how it is written matters.
In our stack
Why we use JavaScript.
We use JavaScript for the interactive parts of a site, and we keep it light so pages stay quick. On custom applications it also runs the logic behind the scenes, through TypeScript and React. We only add it where it helps your visitors.
Interactive Pages
Filters, forms and menus respond instantly, without reloading the whole page.
One Language, Both Sides
The same language can run in the browser and on the server.
Supported by Every Browser
It runs in all major browsers, so visitors do not need to install anything.
