What is CDN?

Also called: Content Delivery Network

A CDN keeps copies of your site on servers around the world, so each visitor loads it from a nearby location and pages open faster.

A CDN, or content delivery network, is a group of servers spread across many regions. Instead of every visitor pulling your images and files from one server, the CDN stores copies and serves each person from the closest location.

The practical result is speed and resilience. Pages load faster for visitors who are far from your main server, and your site handles busy days better because the work is shared. Many CDNs also add protection against malicious traffic and help absorb sudden spikes.

For a local business, a CDN may seem unnecessary, but customers browse from phones on all kinds of connections, and speed affects both sales and search rankings. Modern hosting platforms often include a CDN automatically. We set one up as part of hosting and performance work.

Example
A visitor in Miami opens your Reno company's site and receives the images from a server in Florida instead of one in Nevada.
