What is cPanel?
cPanel, in plain English.
cPanel is a web hosting control panel: a screen where you manage the practical bits of a website without touching code. Add an email address, create a database, upload files, install WordPress or check disk space, all with clicks.
If you have ever logged into a hosting account and seen a grid of icons, there is a good chance it was cPanel. Hosting companies install it on their servers and hand it to customers. It is made by WebPros, which also makes Plesk.
For a business owner, cPanel mostly shows up when you buy shared hosting or your host runs it for you. It is widely understood, so most developers can find their way around it, and moving between hosts that use it is usually straightforward.
In our stack
Why we use cPanel.
We do not build on cPanel because we manage our own servers with ServerAvatar, which gives us a lighter setup. But we know it well, and we are comfortable working inside a client's existing cPanel account when they already have one.
Familiar Layout
Most developers and many owners already know where things are.
Everything in One Place
Email, files, databases and sites share a single dashboard.
Easy Handover
Moving a site between hosts that use it is usually simple.
