What is Google Fonts?
Google Fonts, in plain English.
Google Fonts is a free library of typefaces for websites and print. A typeface is the style of lettering your site uses, and it does a lot to shape how professional, friendly or modern a business feels.
Most of the fonts are released under the SIL Open Font License, which lets anyone use them on commercial projects at no charge. A designer picks a font from the catalog, and the site then loads it for visitors, either from Google's servers or from files you host yourself.
The choice matters for more than looks. Fonts are files visitors have to download, so careful choices keep pages fast, and where the files are served from affects privacy. Google Fonts gives small businesses a wide, free catalog of professional typefaces, and we handle the setup so it looks right and loads quickly.

Why we use Google Fonts.
We use Google Fonts on most of our client sites because it offers well-made typefaces with no license fee. Where it makes sense, we host the font files on the client's own site, so pages load quickly and visitors aren't sent to an outside service.
No License Fees
Most fonts are open source and free for commercial projects.
Wide Choice
A large catalog lets your brand stand apart without custom type.
Faster Pages
Self-hosted font files load from your own site, keeping visits quick.
