What is ShortPixel?
ShortPixel, in plain English.
ShortPixel Image Optimizer is a WordPress plugin that makes your photos smaller. Big, uncompressed images are one of the most common reasons a site feels slow, and slow pages frustrate visitors and can hurt how you do on Google.
When you upload an image, ShortPixel compresses it and can convert it to WebP or AVIF, newer formats that look the same at a smaller size. You choose how aggressive the compression is. It can also serve images through a CDN, a network of servers that keeps copies close to visitors.
The plugin is free to install, and it works on a credit model: a monthly allowance of free credits, with paid plans and one time packs for larger libraries.

Why we use ShortPixel.
We install ShortPixel on many client sites. Staff upload large photos, and this fixes the problem automatically instead of relying on anyone to resize them. It pairs well with a good host and a CDN to keep pages quick.
Faster Page Loads
Smaller images mean pages open quicker on phones and slow connections.
Set and Forget
New uploads are optimized automatically, with no extra steps for staff.
Modern Formats
Images convert to WebP or AVIF while still looking sharp.
