What is Statamic?
Statamic, in plain English.
Statamic is a content management system built on Laravel, a popular framework for custom web applications. Instead of keeping content only in a database, it stores pages and settings as simple files, so the whole site, content and configuration included, can be tracked with version control. A database mode is available if you outgrow files.
It gives editors a clean control panel with live preview, and gives developers a fast, tidy base. Its Pro edition adds extras such as revision history, multiple sites, user management and a content API for building front ends separately, called a headless setup.
Statamic is made by Statamic, LLC. Its core is free to use, while Pro is paid, and the software is licensed commercially rather than as open source. It is a good choice for custom sites and applications built on Laravel, and a less natural fit for teams who expect WordPress's huge plugin library.

Why we use Statamic.
Statamic is one we keep in mind for custom, developer-led builds where speed, simple hosting and version-controlled content matter. For most business sites we still choose WordPress, since more teams already know how to run it.
Content in Version Control
Every content change can be tracked, reviewed and rolled back like code.
