What is Tailwind CSS?
Tailwind CSS, in plain English.
Tailwind CSS is a free, open source styling framework. Styling is the work of controlling how a page looks: colors, spacing, fonts and layout. Instead of writing long style sheets by hand, developers use small, ready-made building blocks right in the page's code.
That approach suits web applications, where you have many screens built from the same buttons, forms, tables and cards. Because every piece draws on the same set of sizes and colors, the whole product looks consistent. Tailwind also removes any style that isn't used, so the finished pages stay light and load quickly.
Tailwind works with modern JavaScript tools like React and Next.js, and it's maintained by a company called Tailwind Labs. It's not the same thing as Automatic.css, which we use for WordPress sites. Tailwind is the choice for custom applications.
