What is UploadThing?
UploadThing, in plain English.
UploadThing is a file upload service for web applications. When a restaurant owner adds photos, a customer attaches a document or your team uploads a menu, UploadThing carries the file from their device to storage and tells the application when it has arrived.
The rules for each upload are written once, in one place in the code: which file types are allowed, how large a file can be, and who is permitted to upload. Files that break the rules are turned away before they are stored. It also provides ready-made upload buttons and drag-and-drop areas, with a progress bar, that fit into the application's design.
Uploads are a common weak spot in custom applications. Poorly handled, they can slow a site down or let in files that should never be there. UploadThing gives a tested, controlled path for every file, which is safer for you and quicker for us to build.

Why we use UploadThing.
We use UploadThing to let people add files to our custom applications, including Reno Restaurant Guide. Upload rules sit in one clear place, so nobody can slip a wrong file type or an oversized image through, and we spend less time on setup.
Rules Enforced
File types, sizes and permissions are checked before anything is stored.
Smooth Uploading
Drag-and-drop areas and progress bars make adding files easy for your users.
Faster to Build
Less storage setup for us means more time on features you will notice.
