What is WP Compress?
WP Compress, in plain English.
WP Compress is a WordPress speed plugin that puts image handling at its center. Images are usually the heaviest part of a page. WP Compress shrinks them, converts them to newer formats like WebP and AVIF, and can serve each visitor a size that fits their device.
It also includes page caching, code minification, lazy loading and an optional CDN, a network of servers around the world that delivers your site from a location close to each visitor. Its site cites up to 123 edge locations. A free plugin is on WordPress.org, and the stronger optimization and agency features are paid. Plans are credit-based, tied to the amount of data optimized.
Compared with a pure caching plugin, WP Compress bundles the image and delivery work in one place. The practical result is photos that look sharp but load quickly, which matters on property, portfolio and product sites.

Why we use WP Compress.
We've used WP Compress on a client project where image-heavy pages needed to load faster. We like that it handles image sizes and delivery together, and we weigh it against other options for each site.
Lighter Images
Photos shrink and switch to modern formats like WebP and AVIF.
Right Size Per Visitor
Phones get phone-sized images, so pages load faster on any device.
Global Delivery
An optional CDN serves your site from a location near each visitor.
