FAQ
Image Optimizer questions.
What is WebP?
A modern image format that is usually much smaller than JPG or PNG at similar quality, supported by all major browsers.
What quality should I use?
Around 75 to 85 is a good balance for most photos. Use Keep under to let the tool lower quality until the file fits a size limit.
Does it write metadata?
Yes, for JPEG only: author, copyright, description and GPS as EXIF, plus the website in XMP. WebP and PNG files are saved without metadata.
Does it upscale small images?
No. A size larger than the original is skipped, so you never get a blurry enlargement or a bigger file for nothing.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Images are decoded and encoded in your browser and never leave your device.
