FAQ
UTM Builder questions.
What is a UTM link?
A normal link with tags added to the end that tell your analytics tool where a visitor came from: the source, the medium and the campaign.
Which UTM fields are required?
Source, medium and campaign. Term and content are optional. Term is for paid keywords and content tells apart ads or links that point to the same page.
Why lowercase everything?
Analytics tools treat Email and email as two different values, which splits your reports. Lowercasing and replacing spaces with dashes keeps each channel in one row.
Do UTM tags affect SEO?
No. Use them on links in ads, emails and social posts, not on links between pages of your own site, where they would overwrite the visitor's real source.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The link is built in your browser. Presets and recent links are stored only in this browser.
