FAQ

Schema Markup Generator questions.

What is schema markup?
A block of structured data, usually JSON-LD, that describes a page in a format machines read: that it is a business with an address and hours, a product with a price, an event with a date. It sits in the page's HTML and is not visible to visitors.
Where do I put the script tag?
Anywhere in the head or body of the page it describes. Search engines read JSON-LD in either place. In a CMS, use a custom code or header field for that page, or an SEO plugin's structured data option.
Will schema markup get me rich results?
Not by itself. Markup makes a page eligible, but Google decides what to show, and it doesn't guarantee any enhancement. It has also limited some types, such as FAQ rich results, to a small set of sites.
Should the markup match what is on the page?
Yes. Describe only content visitors can see on that page. Prices, ratings and reviews in particular should be real and match the page, since mismatches can lead to the markup being ignored.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The JSON-LD is built in your browser. Your entries are saved only in this browser so a refresh doesn't lose them, and Clear this form removes them.
