What is Domain Name?
Also called: domain, URL
A domain name is your website's address on the internet, like yourcompany.com. You register it for a period, and it should be owned by your business.
A domain name is the text people type to reach your website, such as yourcompany.com. It is also usually the second half of your business email addresses. You do not buy a domain forever; you register it through a registrar for a set time and renew it.
Who owns the registration matters. Too many businesses discover their domain is registered in a former web designer's account, which makes it hard to move the site or recover email. Make sure the registration is in your company's name, with a contact email you control.
Choose a domain that is short, easy to say aloud and easy to spell. Keep it renewed with auto-renew turned on, since an expired domain can take your site and email offline. We can set up, transfer and monitor domains so they are always under your control.
Example
A business registers its domain under the owner's company account and turns on auto-renew so the website and email never lapse.
