What is Website Backups?
Also called: backup
Website backups are saved copies of your site and its data that let you restore quickly after a hack, a failed update or an accident.
A website backup is a copy of everything your site depends on: files, the database, settings and uploaded media. If something goes wrong, a backup lets you return to a known good state instead of rebuilding from scratch.
Things go wrong more often than people expect. A bad update breaks a page, a hacker injects malware, a staff member deletes something or a server fails. Without a recent backup, you could lose orders, content and weeks of work.
Good backups are automatic, frequent enough for how often your site changes, stored away from the main server and tested. A backup you have never restored is a hope, not a plan. We include tested backups in hosting so recovery is fast.
Example
After a plugin update breaks the checkout, the site is restored to last night's backup within minutes.
