What is Cloudways?
Cloudways, in plain English.
Cloudways is a managed hosting company. It runs on top of other clouds, including DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, Amazon and Google, and gives you a simple dashboard for setting up and looking after your site there.
Managed means Cloudways handles the server side, with a firewall, malware scanning, backups and monitoring, and expert support around the clock. You or your agency just manage the website itself. It aims at agencies, online stores and growing businesses.
Compared with renting a bare VPS from DigitalOcean or Hetzner, you pay for the convenience. Compared with ordinary shared hosting, you get a server of your own. It is a middle path for owners who want performance without server chores.
