What is Inngest?
Inngest, in plain English.
Inngest is a platform for background work. Some jobs in an application should not keep a visitor waiting or only need to happen at set times: sending a reminder every morning, processing a large import, or running a series of follow-ups. Inngest runs those jobs for you.
A job is split into steps. Inngest runs each step, saves the result, and retries any step that fails, so a long process picks up where it stopped rather than starting over or quietly disappearing. A dashboard shows every run and what happened in it, which makes problems easy to find.
This is the kind of reliability that separates a polished application from a fragile one. Without it, a failed email or half-finished task can go unnoticed for days. Inngest works with the application's own code and does not require a separate queue server for anyone to manage.

Why we use Inngest.
We use Inngest for scheduled and long-running jobs in our applications. In Reno Restaurant Guide it sends daily payment-reminder emails to subscribers. Jobs that retry themselves and leave a clear record mean fewer silent failures and less checking by hand.
Jobs That Finish
Failed steps retry automatically, so work is not lost halfway.
Runs on Schedule
Daily reminders and regular tasks happen without anyone remembering them.
Clear Records
Every run is logged, so you can see what happened and when.
