What is Scalability?
Also called: scalable
Scalability is a system's ability to handle more users, data or work without slowing down or needing a rebuild. It protects you as your business grows.
Scalability describes how well a website or software copes as demand increases. A scalable system keeps working when ten users become a thousand, when your database grows or when a promotion sends a rush of visitors.
It matters because growth should not break your tools. A site that crashes during your biggest sales day, or an app that crawls once the data piles up, costs money and reputation. Fixing a design that was never meant to grow often means starting over.
Scalability is a matter of fit, not maximum size. Building for millions of users when you have a hundred wastes money. Good design leaves room to grow without overbuilding. We plan architecture and hosting around where you are going, not just where you are today.
Example
A booking site stays quick on the day a local radio mention sends many times the usual number of visitors.
