What is Schema Markup?
Also called: structured data
Schema markup is extra code that labels your content, such as reviews, business details or FAQs, so search engines understand it and can show richer results.
Schema markup is a standard vocabulary, from schema.org, that you add to a page's code to describe what it contains. It can tell search engines that something is a business with certain hours, a product with a price, an article with an author or a set of questions and answers.
Search engines use it to understand your content more accurately, and in some cases to show enhanced results, such as review stars, event details or product information. It does not guarantee those features, and it is not a direct ranking boost, but it can make your listing more informative.
The markup must match what visitors can actually see on the page, or it can break Google's rules. Errors can be checked with Google's Rich Results Test. We add and validate schema for businesses, services, articles and FAQs as part of our SEO builds.
Example
A local business adds markup with its address, phone number and opening hours so search engines can read them accurately.
