San Francisco and the Bay Area

Web design for San Francisco teams that expect engineering, not templates.

Bay Area buyers can spot a template from across the room. Stack Mode does web design and web development for San Francisco and Bay Area companies remotely, from our Reno office about four hours east over the Sierra.

Doing business in San Francisco

In the Bay Area, your website is a product demo.

San Francisco and the Bay Area set the standard for software, startups and design. Buyers, investors and candidates here have used the best products in the world, and they judge your company by how your site looks, reads and performs.

That raises the bar for every business in the region, not just tech companies. Clinics, firms, restaurants and service companies compete for customers whose expectations were set by the apps on their phones.

  1. 01

    Performance is visible

Slow pages and layout jumps read as sloppy engineering. Core Web Vitals are part of the first impression.

  2. 02

    Design has to be specific

Generic stock photos and template layouts make a company look like everyone else in the pitch deck.

  3. 03

    Your stack matters

Teams want a site built on tools their own developers respect and can work in later.

What we build

San Francisco web development on a modern stack.

Custom design and real engineering, with code your team can own.

Next.js and React

Marketing sites and web apps on Next.js, React and TypeScript, deployed on modern hosting.

Engineered motion and detail

Interactions and animation that feel premium and still respect reduced-motion settings.

Product and SaaS builds

Dashboards, portals and subscription platforms, from first version to launch.

Measured for speed

Lean pages, optimized media and clean code, with Core Web Vitals checked before launch.

How it works

How a remote Bay Area project runs.

Our office is in Reno and we work with Bay Area teams remotely, in the same time zone, with the cadence and tools your team already uses.

Remote, Pacific time
  1. 1

    Discovery with your team

A video working session with the people who own the site, the brand and the code.

  2. 2

    Ship in reviewable increments

Preview deploys for every milestone, so feedback happens on the real thing.

  3. 3

    Clean handover

Your repository, your hosting account, documented code. Keep working with us or take it in-house.

FAQ

Questions about web design and development in San Francisco.

Do you work with Bay Area teams in person?
Projects run remotely from our Reno office, in your time zone and inside your team's tools. Most Bay Area teams already work this way with their own engineers, so it rarely slows anything down.
Can you work in our repository and on our hosting?
Yes. We are comfortable in your GitHub organization and your hosting account, or we set them up for you and transfer ownership at handover.
What stack do you use for San Francisco projects?
Usually Next.js, React and TypeScript, with Postgres, Stripe and the APIs you already use. For content-heavy marketing sites, custom WordPress is sometimes the better fit, and we will tell you which and why.
Have you built software products, not just client sites?
Yes. StackOS runs our own studio and Stack Guard is WordPress security software we build and sell. Reno Restaurant Guide is a subscription platform we built for a client.
Do you sign NDAs before discovery?
Yes. If your product or roadmap is confidential, send your NDA before the discovery call and we will review and sign it.
